One baby was strapped on my back, while the other crawled in the playpen. I worked 12 hour days, for months, sanding and removing wallpaper, with one child. Ha! It was beginning to seem logical, however it wasn't quite finished. It was going to take lots of time and money and shopping my favorite interiors to decorate this place. My three sons and me were looking for the hidden treasures going to estate sales in order to help reduce my expenses. We used to go on a weekly basis to visit auctions and garage sales on Saturday and Sunday and purchase a range of old pieces and new constructed. My work days were spent at the end of the driveway, painting or sanding. It was a bit like the picture below... This is the time my love of restoring furniture began. When our house was furnished, I still couldn't stop! There was a spot in the market that I could sell my pieces. I was able to outgrow the market because I had plenty of pieces that I could use. Open houses were held in my home where one 000 people could visit over a weekend, and visitors could buy anything from the ground level. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. When my business grew as did our family. Being a new mom I was able to find the perfect balance to both start my own company and be a good mother. Growing Days fit perfectly. My precious Nora arrived in the year 2013, our 4th child. Although I was happy about the direction my company was taking, I realized that I needed to take some time off. I decided to step back to spend time in my home with my kids. That was exactly what i required. Within a couple of months, the phone began to start to. I was getting requests from people requesting for help in home improvement as well as interior design. The majority of people who contacted me were people who had attended one of my furniture open house events. It wasn't long before I managed a large-scale business for home improvement. It began with taking clients at a pace that I felt comfortable with. If you had said to me that this company that I started would become the premise of a tv show for the DIY Network I probably would have laughed. Actually I still kind of amused when I think of it.
