The children were sleeping at the crib, as I was strapped with an infant to my back. Ha! All was starting to form, but there was still a long way to go. It would take the time, energy, and my favorite shopping to complete the interior of this house. In order to stay within budget, I began taking my kids to estate sales looking for of diamonds. Each week we would spend the week of Thursday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales buying brand new furniture. In the end, I repainted and smoothed the driveway throughout the week. It looked a bit similar to this... Here is where my obsession with restoring antique furniture started. I continued to work on furniture, even after having furnished our house. I rented a booth at the local market and even sold some items there. My collection eventually grew so large that the room that I was living in was no longer adequate. Over 1000 people visited my house in one weekend to purchase everything on the ground floor. That's how my company Growing Days was born. The business I was running was growing, but my family was growing too. It was a balance between the start of a company and being a mother. Growing Days was the obvious choice. In 2013, my daughter Nora was our fourth baby. The direction of my business was fantastic, but I needed to rest for a while. I made the decision to take a break to spend time at home, with my children. It was exactly what I was looking for at the moment. It rang once more after several minutes. I was getting calls from people seeking help for their interior decorating and home renovations. Many of the people calling me came from people who attended one of the furniture open house events. I started taking on some clients at a time going at my own pace but it wasn't too for long to have numerous accounts and had an entire home improvement business. It is likely that I'd have laughed had someone had told me the venture was going to be the basis for an upcoming television show that airs on the DIY Network. Actually, I smile slightly when I recall the story.
