The children were sleeping asleep in their cribs and I was strapped with one of them to my back. Ha! The home was starting to look nice, but there was a lot that needed to be left. The house would need lots of time and a love for shopping. In order to stay within budget, I began taking my kids to estate sales in search of diamonds. Our routine was of walking around garage sales and auctions on Saturday and Sunday, and buy a variety of old pieces and new made. My work days were spent on the drive painting or sanding. It looked a bit like this... Here's where my love for restoring antique furniture started. When our home was furnished I couldn't quit! In the market in town, I rented a small space, and also sold objects. In the end, I was stuffed with too many pieces to store in the room available. At home, I would host open houses, where over 1000 people could come in to purchase anything they wanted on the first floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days was created in this home. In addition to my thriving business, I also had the pleasure of growing our family. Being a new mom, I found the right balance to both start my own business as well as being a decent mother. Growing Days seemed like the ideal combination. It was in 2013 when my lovely daughter Nora was born. She is our fourth baby. This was an excellent direction for my business however, I needed an escape. I took a pause from making vintage furniture, and also slowed my pace in order to stay at home and help my children. This was just the thing I needed. After a few months that the phones started to ring. They wanted my help in interior decoration as well as renovations. A majority of them were people who came into my residence during my furniture open houses. After that, I gradually took on more clients, at my own speed. Soon I had multiple customers and was operating an enterprise of renovations to homes. You would probably have laughed at me had you had said that it would be the foundation of an DIY Network tv series. It's hilarious to look back on it.
